‘Making your own wrapping paper is easy and so much fun. Start by collecting some petals and leaves from your garden.’

This is a really fun activity for crafters of any age! I am so lucky to have a garden full of beautifully coloured flowers, but for this craft you could use grass, or weeds or leaves from a tree. – Just make sure you have permission to pick the flowers and you wash your hands carefully after!

Select your tools. I have used a wooden hammer but you can get better results using a heavier metal hammer like a claw hammer.
If you are doing this craft with your ‘little ones’ maybe just use a coin or the back of a spoon.
Prepare a flat surface, a desk inside or worktop outside and lay out a length of blank paper. I have used liner wall paper as it absorbs the colour, comes ready rolled and its relatively cheap to buy. You can use any paper you like or have at home- even newspaper could

And finally… If using a hammer- place your petal/leaf on the paper and then cover with a piece of kitchen roll. Then hammer over the petal (watching out for your fingers) and be amazed by how the colour transfers onto the paper.
If using a spoon or coin- sometimes you may find it easier to apply pressure directly to the petal or leaf and then brush away any pieces of plant left behind.
I have then used a black ink pen and have drawn the outline to some flowers – this is where you can let your imagination run wild!! You do not have to stick to flowers you could use the colours to create any design you like!!
