Embracing the Season – and Some Exciting News
We’ve had such a good summer. Of course, in a very quintessentially British way, I’ve had my share of moans about being too warm (and feeling a little perimenopausal on top of it!). But the long, bright days have brought so much colour and inspiration into my work.
And here’s something I haven’t shared yet: I now have a small collection of my pieces stocked in a fantastic local shop! ✨

Ecoast Pembrokeshire in Saundersfoot is a treasure trove of sustainable creativity, with around 90% of its stock made from recycled materials — much of it collected from local beaches. After a chance meeting one sunny afternoon, the owner, Sam, and I struck up a conversation. I told her how I make all of my fabric items using rescued textiles from the textile industry, and also shared a little about my caring responsibilities at home. She was wonderfully supportive and invited me to display a collection of my work in her store.
Summer Colours → Autumn Warmth
Naturally, the season shaped what I created. Sam’s summer display was full of brights — yellows, blues, greens, and oranges — and I wanted my pieces to sit happily alongside them. Wristlets, quilted pouches, and even a fun-sized bucket bag went down really well.

But as the odd rainy day crept in, I knew autumn wasn’t far away. I started leaning into those warm, cinnamon-spice colours that signal the shift in season. I dropped off a large bag in autumn shades, and Sam loved it so much she made it the centrepiece of her new window display.
Within just one day, it had sold.

Sam messaged me, delighted, and asked for three more. I made two in her requested blues and greens, but I couldn’t resist adding a pumpkin-inspired bag into the mix. I trusted my instincts, styled it in store… and within twelve hours, it too had a new home.

Trusting Creative Instincts
You need to trust your gut when it comes to creativity
That moment reminded me how important it is to listen to your creative instincts. While it felt safe to stay in line with the store’s usual colours, I knew autumn was in the air — in the shops, on the high street, and in people’s homes. Leaning into that seasonal shift it felt like exactly the right move, I’m very glad it paid off.
Next up? I’m experimenting with pumpkins made from rescued fabric and twine. I can’t wait to see how they do in store.

For me, autumn is about pumpkin spice and deep greens — what’s your go-to seasonal palette?
